Pointless

We pray to God that the second card is an ace although the cards have already been dealt.

We pray to God that we'll get good exam results just before we peek at them.

We persist to joke with the doctor even though we know we're dying.

We tell ourselves that this isn't happening when we find out that we are dying.

We tell the person to our left to pinch us while we gaze upon the remnants of a brutal car crash.

We pound the wood and glass while we shout for our loved ones to wake up even though we know they're dead.


We insist on trying to hope even when we know there is no use in doing so; when both the circumstance and outcome have already been decided.

Not necessarily revealed yet, but definitely decided.


But then again;

We rapid fire the down button even though it wont make the elevator come any faster.

We put our dirty hands on the faucet to get the water running, wash our hands, then put our clean hands on the dirty faucet to stop the water.

We happily come out of the shower knowing that the towel we use to wipe our face is the same towel we use to wipe our ass.


So as humans, are we just blissfully hopeful and ignorant, or is there a rather large dash of stupidity mixed in there...
